Composer Raymond Warren
Title Mother Watkins' Ayres
Year 2002
Instrumentation Wind Quintet
Mins 16-20
Other information This is a divertimento for wind quintet on Tudor tunes, popular in England in the 16th century. With the exception of 'Ah Robin' which is set (at the beginning and end of the second movement) to the contemporary harmonies of William Cornish, the settings are mine and are intended to bring out in the strongest way the character of the tunes, which are named at their first appearance in the score. There are three movements, 1. Quodlibet, 2. Robin's Lament, 3. Songs and Rounds.
