Become a member of Severnside Composers Alliance!

Annual membership (starts 1 April) is £25.
Student membership £12 (all those in full-time education studying Music)

Membership is open to anyone interested in furthering the work of SCA - either individual composers or any corporate body or unincorporated association - resident in the Bristol and Bath area (defined loosely as the Avon valley and the counties bordering the eastern bank of the Severn estuary, that is to say Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire).

BENEFITS

Meet other local composers and creative musicians, broadly in the field of contemporary classical music, but with a diverse range of styles and interests.  Social events and opportunities to meet and discuss contemporary music and ideas, and music of all kinds

Submit pieces for concerts put on by SCA.  Programmes for our concerts always include a selection of pieces chosen as a result of a call for scores from SCA members, usually plus some other contemporary music.  Programmes are generally decided by the main organiser for any given concert, and often in collaboration with the performers (depending on the nature of the event).  Submissions for concerts are generally only accepted from SCA members, and pieces need of course to be of a certain quality.  While membership doesn't guarantee that your music will be chosen for any particular concert, it does mean that you can submit pieces and that any piece you do submit will be seriously considered.  We exist, in large part, to perform members' music.  And aside from the three CDs we have released, we do try to record all our concerts, so over the years we have generated a number of recordings - many of them first performances.  There may also be opportunities for performances of less polished pieces in more informal events.

Help put on concerts / get help to put on concerts. We are always open to suggestions for concerts or events, and keen for members who want to to take an active role in taking the lead in running a concert.

Concessionary rate tickets for all SCA concerts (or free ticket if your music is performed).

Give one of our Composer Talks (see News&Events)
These evenings are opportunities for SCA composers to talk about their music and play examples, in a friendly atmosphere with a glass of wine.  Some evenings could involve two composers, each talking about a single piece, or a single composer talking at greater depth or about more!  Non-SCA members are also welcome.  The numerous evenings we have had have been fascinating, and have recently been taking place in the Victoria Rooms in Bristol.  Please contact Andre Shlimon (andre_shlimon@hotmail.com / 07980 339010) to offer your voice!

Your own webpage (see the Composers page)
