Musica Donum Dei is offering a prize of £100 and a public performance for a new work based on the English song ‘All in a garden green’. Call for works from emerging composers of the South West for a workshop with Kokoro, the contemporary music ensemble of the Bournemoth SO. 3 entrants will be selected for the workshop next January, and one will be chosen to open a concert. EMPIRICAL SOUNDINGS - SOUNDSCAPES FROM THE COMMONWEALTH
During the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games to be held 15-26 th March, a cultural festival will be held in Melbourne and provincial cities in the state of Victoria, Australia. Bendigo, a large provincial city 150 km north of Melbourne, as part of its cultural festival, will host a surround sound installation featuring soundscapes by sound artists living in various Commonwealth countries.
Sound artists from Commonwealth countries are invited to submit sound pieces expressing some aspect of their home country or one or more of the sports included in the Commonwealth Games (sports that will be contested are: aquatics, athletics, badminton, basketball, bowls, =
boxing, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rugby 7s, shooting, squash, table tennis, triathlon and weightlifting).
A 5.1 surround sound system will be available so soundscapes can be in any configuration suitable. Pieces should be no longer than 7 minutes long. Up to 10 pieces will be selected for the installation, which will run from March 15 - March 26, 2006. An honorarium of $AUD100 will be paid for each piece used.

The newly formed Reizen Ensemble are inviting composers to submit scores. The enemble consists of soprano, flute, viola, cello, double bass, and piano. THE YOUNG EIGHT 2005 Emerging Composers Competition
The Young Eight, an African-American string octet, announces its 2005 Emerging Composers Competition. Applicants may be students or professional composers and may be of any race, sex or ethnicity; however, the compositions submitted must display African, Caribbean,
African-American, or Latin rhythmic or tonal influences. Anything from jazz swing to a rhumba beat is encouraged. Submitted compositions should not have been previously performed professionally or published. Composers may submit 1 or 2 works. All works must be for string octet consisting of four violins, two violas, and two celli. Three prizes will be awarded for the best compositions, and will include premieres at Black colleges and universities around the country in 2006. Applicants must be must be between the ages of 16 and 34 and must submit a
completed application form, three copies of each score, biographical information and a $25 application fee for one composition, or $40 for two compositions. Entries should be sent to:

GMUEND CONTEMPORARY SACRED MUSIC
The Festival of European Sacred Music Gmuend is organising a competition for contemporary sacred music, with a prize of EUR 2,5000. The Festival motto for 2006 is "Path of Life". BRUNEL UNIVERSITY ARTS COMPETITION
A competition for a new 12 min work for solo cello with live electronic transformation and string orchestra.
